Day 4 Safari Park
Every morning of our trip I took time out for myself in the early hours, to exercise, to get in a good mood and feeling ready for the day! Gideon came with me the first morning and rode the bike, tried the elliptical machine (it kept coming off it's track because he was going so fast!). It felt great to be the only one in there, sweating by the marina, watching people who live on their boats come and go, and seeing the sun come up.
After breakfast we drove down to the Safari Park. Gideon was growing inside me the last time we were here and I had a major sunburn.
Once in the gate, we went straight for the tigers! They are Gideon and my favorite animal.
Dave commented on the big job the groundskeepers and botonists must have at the zoo. The plants were incredible and huge!
Condormen...
Owen wasn't feelin' it after a long walk through the trees.
After the condors we found this peaceful little bonsai tree garden. We thought it was funny that they had a rock on display.
The kangaroo walk was pretty fun. This wallaby was right by the path and we were able to reeeeach over and pet her. We weren't allowed to be on the grass, so I had to hold Gideon's waist while he reached over to pet her. She was so soft! The big kangaroos were hanging out in the shade, out of the way, so we just waved at them.
Luke found this snail walking through the zoo too.
The bird show is always fun. The boys liked seeing all kinds of cool birds flying through the sky in front of us. And the red river hog was my favorite... not a bird, but he stole the show. And I loved this tree outside the amphitheater.
Owen wanted me to take a picture of this octopus cactus.
I think this is a sugar glider baby!
Owen spotted a lizard and took his picture.
Brushing the goats! A really fluffy one tried to eat my fanny pack. Owen had not been in a great mood ever since the condors, so the goats brought his smiles back. :)
We gave our feet a break and enjoyed a mini safari out on the savanna. I didn't have lunch with the rest of the fam because I wanted a salad, but the line was too long. So i ate all the carrots that came in the boys' lunches at during the tour.
Luke spotted this herd of horses far away on a hill!
This was the view from our patio. Boats and wet beach towels.
