Powell Gardens

LegoLand KC partnered up with the Powell Gardens this summer and they have placed lego sculptures all around. I love it when gardens do this sort of thing! It's like a seek and find book for the kids, but in real life. I guess that would be a treasure hunt. Whatever, you know what it mean!!There were bricks to play with in the lobby too. :)

I have been wanting to visit this place, but it's about an hour away. Today is the last day before school starts, and I wanted to make sure all 3 boys got to come before summer ended!

The boys totally ran passed this guy without noticing! Sneaky snake!

So there's a fountain for kids to play in! This was the first place we came and afterwards I saw most of the kids walking around the gardens had swimming suits on. :) It must be the thing to do.

Gid found a butterfly to catch. There were butterflies everywhere.

I looked all over to find out what sort of plant this was, but i never found a plate with it's name. But aren't they cool!? It's like a pepper flower or something.

A few hours after walking around we came back passed these waterfall stairs and there was a sign telling us to stay out of the water... oops. :)

I'm a fan of this hideout! It's just dirt and trees all packed together over a giant tube for a slide!

Owen found a frog near the lake.

Then he found a .... thing....
Then Luke collected a whole pocket full to bring home.

And look! Luke's favorite bird made out of legos!

Look at these zig zag plants?!??!

Two workers were in the lily pond. Those flowers are so beautiful! I can't look at one without thinking about the movie The Ten Commandments. ha! Or of my niece Lily. ;)

 Checking out the koi fish!

This living wall was my favorite thing at the gardens.

The sprinklers were on all over!!!  Me and the boys loved getting cooled off!

Of all the lego sculptures the boys (or at least Luke) said the blue birds were their favorite.

Apple core. Many more. Who's your friend? THEM! :)

they spotted a lego guy having lunch. :)

This is Luke talking and dreaming about having a garden of his own. :) A boy after my own heart.

I assume these are sweet peas, but I've never seen those patterns or that coral color before. We used to grow sweet peas at the farm on the back of the farm house. :)

We were heading to the top of that silo to get a better look at the gardens. Luke has taken to pushing the stroller. :) More power to him!

The view down made our stomachs flip!

Lego Farmer Owen!

I don't know what these are, but they look like miniature Christmas lights:)

Owen found a froggy, of course. :)

Owen was down the way finding more bugs and plants. :)

What a find!!! Absolutely LOVE the colorful legos hidden everywhere in the garden. Who knew you could make snakes and flowers and all kinds of critters w/ legos? The little red roter-tiller is adorable. This is on my KC bucket list!!
