Far West, MO

Dave's been making it a Sunday tradition to go driving to the local historic church sites. i LOVE it! :) This time around we went to Far West.

The site of the temple is beautiful and peaceful and definitely feels like a temple should be there. All of the cornerstones are there and in place as well.
Owen is a doll. ;)

Owen and his poptart. ;) Dave grabbed a handful of pop tarts before heading out to calm the crazies in the back seats.

Luke's getting really good at posing!  ha ha!

Gideon and I were both wondering why we didn't bring a picnic dinner! There are quite a few tables set out to enjoy.
On the right (you can't see it), is the Church of Christ, an RLDS building. It used to be the prophet's house i guess. At least, it was built there at one time, the original structure is gone.
So time stood still when we realized there was a baby snapping turtle booking it down the middle of the road. :) Dave stopped the car. I jumped out. The boys followed. Luckily we were out in the middle of nowhere so the boys weren't in danger of being flattened.

There's a little rest stop area and a few benches. It's very pretty and serene and looks out onto fields on all sides. I guess Adam Ondi Ahman is close by as well.
We drove home through beautiful fields. Dave pulled over to let the boys watch a pair of farmers working their wheat.

That night after we got home the boys asked to learn how to sew stuffed animals. So here they are having their first experience with needle and thread. :) Luke's making PopFizz (a skylander character) and Owen's working on Bob the Tomato.

I guess I better read my church history so that I'll know all about the sites you're visiting. I remember seeing signs to Far West and Hauns Mill on our way to A.D., but we didn't stop to see what was there. So glad you are exploring each site. The stitched projects are adorable. Luke and Owen are so proud of their creations. What great parents you are!
