Ward campout
We ventured up north for our very first ward campout as a family. Dave and the boys have been on plenty of fathers and sons and scout campouts, but this time mama came along. It was a beautiful drive up.
We got there just before dinner. I forgot the hot dogs, but brought everything else. oye! My friend Jamie Cook let us have their leftover hotdogs and burgers that they weren't going to eat. We were very grateful and I was very embarrassed.
Gideon was all over gathering sticks for the fire. And organizing them by size.
Owen was walking around like Tarzan because he got a bloody nose and it got all over his shirt. I washed his shirt off with a bottle of water and hung it on the wire fence to dry off. In the meantime the other boys from the ward thought they should take off their shirts too and run wild in the trees. ha!
This rock and I have similar feelings about camping...
Gid enjoying the fire he helped build. Owen bringing in wood too. Luke and Dave set up the tent.
The ward gathered around a giant fire pit and had a devotional. Then we talked and played card games and the kids had hot cocoa and found a tarantula in the picnic area! In the morning the kids all played baseball and searched for the best rocks and saw some cows in the woods. It was a great time with our ward family!
This was my view all night. Literally all night... I didn't sleep a wink. From the stupid slippery sleeping bag, to Luke being awake too and then the trucks driving past and being sooo loud with their backing up beepers. And a baby crying. It's all part of the show folks!
We were pretty grungy in the morning and ready to get home. We packed up fast, got down the mountain, and washed off all the glorious campfire smell. :) Then I cut my own hair and love it.
