Sedona Summer Day 4: Stowaway Hamster & Thor's Crater
On Monday housekeeping was coming in for their mandatory cleaning. They didn't tell us a time, so we had to run away with the hamster cage for the day. No $200 fine here! So he came with us on a trip to see the Meteor Crater in Williams.
There were local tribes selling their goods. Dave bought the boys these mini tomahawks.
The Meteor Crater is the "best preserved meteorite crater on Earth".
We accidentally stumbled into a 30 minute tour of the crater. They locked the door to the center and wouldn't let us back in until the guide said his piece. It. Was. So. Hot. But a very cool landmark. ;)
And the boys... fine, and me, were certain the hamster was dying in the car. But Dave had all the windows half way down with a nice breeze, so he was totally fine.
We know what really made the crater...
We wandered around the gift shop, because gift shops are the greatest. We actually made it out with all our money! We drove down to Flagstaff for lunch at Cracker Barrel. It hit the spot and we walked out of there with full bellies and chocolate treats from the General Store.
When we got back, Mom and Lolly had made it to the resort. We took the boys out to a park that night. We played football and frisbee. We had the best night being together! Dave showed us the constellation app on his phone and that was super fun since Sedona is a darksky zone so we could see the stars really well.
When we got home the javelinas were clipping around the parking lot. One laid down next to some people grilling on the patio. They are cute, but smelly. It was fun to see them. I had heard about them living in the ravine, but this was our first time catching a glimpse!
