Day 5: Coronado Beach, Birch Aquarium & Home Sweet Home

I had to get a picture of Gideon's breakfast of choice. :) Danish, sausage, and a sprinkling of fruit loops with apple juice on the side.
After packing up the car and checking the hotel room twice, we made our way to Coronado Beach.

It was my favorite one of the whole trip.

There were SO MANY shells! We came home with a towel full!

 Luke found this beautiful seaweed.
Those waves crept up on us fast!

We watched the pelicans hunt and surf all week. I decided it would be a pretty good life to be a pelican. :)

 Gid found a crab pincher!
The sand had gold in it.

Dad helping Gid hunt for a sand dollar.

Luke found this huge clam shell!

After the beach they all wanted to head home, but I wanted to stop off at the Birch Aquarium. Gid was freezing so we got him changed into a pair warm jammies in the parking lot.

 Jelly Fish

Owen has been asking for sea horses for Christmas. We read that we shouldn't buy them, but I don't think that convinced him.
I was excited to find the work of an artist I admire! Her name is Holly Exley.

We stopped at McDonalds for lunch and then we were homeward bound. The drive went fast. The boys did amazing. Dave drove like a champ with a little help from Dr. Pepper. :) We brought the overcast beach weather home with us and we're not complaining one bit.
