Lakeside Nature Center

Gideon and I had to run down to the Scout store to get Luke's new Bear book. It's a good 35 minute drive, so we thought we would see what else there was to see while we were in the area. We found the Lakeside Nature Center!

Doesn't he look like Max from the Grinch!?

 Aaaaand more Gideon pictures. :)

We took the boys & dad back to the Nature Center on Saturday and it turned out to be Wilma the turtle's 75th birthday party! So the boys collected lots of fact sheets about the creatures and got a mini cupcake and found animals for a scavenger hunt that earned them a plastic toy turtle to take home. :)
Owen found a yellow hot wheel car at the park from earlier and Gideon thought it very photogenic.

Luke came home with lots of turtle and snake and lizard magazines to read. :)
We tried to hike their 1 mile trail, but it was MUDDY. I had Owen on my back (Dave had a tired Gideon on his) because his flip flop broke and we almost biffed it in the mud. I thought it would be a paved trail like the other nature center. nope! Better luck next time!

HAR HAR! Love the feet. For some reason that reminds me of one of our nature excursions in Idaho, when you and I were in the back of the car singing our ridiculous (ridiculously AWESOME) song. "Acoopitah!" hahahahaha!
