Luke's 9th Birthday

traditional french toast breakfast with berries and whipped cream!

Luke woke up before everyone so i let him open one gift while he waited for the family to wake up. I'm so happy he loves to read so much! 

  

Once everybody woke up he got to opening all but the last of the presents. We had to save one for Dave to see him open since he had already left to work.

Owen got him Pokemon cards (and a Reeses and a giant eraser). Luke was VERY happy! They went straight to Luke's room after the other gifts were opened and started looking through and organizing all the cards. Then Luke gave the boys some of his old cards to keep. ;)

 Next on Luke's birthday wish was BOWLING!

We walked in, got our shoes on, started the game and right off the bat Luke made a strike! Happy Birthday!

 Luke and Owen tied the first game and Grammy one the second.

 Owen's technique is unrivaled. 

  We had lunch at Pizza Hut. After lunch we drove down to Barnes and Noble so he could pick out a book with his gift card from Aunt Lolly. 

        

All of the boys ended up leaving with something thanks to Grammy! So the car ride home and the rest of the afternoon were relaxed and quiet. Luke's birthday wish was also to stay at home and spend time playing with his brothers, so we checked off that one too. He's a home body. We go out and do fun things to break up the monotony, but I practically have to drag him out of the house every time we go. Unless it's the dollar store... no arguments there.

Cheesecake!! I usually make the birthday cake and have the boys help, but this time he wanted cheesecake and i just didn't have it in me to make one of those bad boys. So Dave saved the day with this variety tray. :)

Luke stayed home with Dave and worked on a Lego Chima set (that was his final present!) while Mom and I took the younger boys down to the park. It was beautiful weather and there were LOTS of fireflies! We don't get very many in our backyard, but down by the creek there were a lot more to catch. Gideon caught one and was SO excited! We planned on bringing one home to show Luke, but Gideon's heart was too soft so set the little bug free.
