Liberty Jail

Mom didn't have many sightseeing requests other than the zoo and adam ondi ahman and the jail. So we checked off the last of those on the last day of her visit. :) Check out the giant moon moth we found on the visitors center!
First you get to walk around a room with displays containing commentary and artifacts and photographs. Then you are given a presentation. Our sister missionary thankfully gave us the condensed version since the boys were restless! Gideon took pictures of her during the whole thing to keep himself occupied. Pretty cute. Luke and Owen downed a box of junior mints. We came well prepared.

In this photo on the far right and left are two of Joseph and Emma's sons sitting outside of the jail.
This is the jail entrance where a curious crowd had gathered to see the "mormon monster". Joseph Smith entered last and paused to greet the crowd with, "Hello Gentlemen" before going into the jail, not knowing it would be 4 months before his release.
Owen was afraid of part of the presentation because his primary teacher told him you can hear a baby crying and it's scary. Soooo, he wouldn't go down for that part. Instead we sat up on the walkway that circles the jail and he sat next to me with his legs curled into his chest and hands over his ears. Then when it was all over, he decided it really wasn't so bad afterall. ;)
The boys had to be wrangled into sitting for a picture instead of climbing on the jail rocks. Many of them are original stones to the building.

Checking out a replica of the golden plates.

aaaaaaaaaaand a video with annoying music, but whatever. :) i'm tired, so there.
