Baking & Freezing & Grandpas
Summer is plugging along at the Ellsworth house. We're pretty much living on otter pops and nectarines at this point. :)
Gideon is just the sweetest. In the last month or so, he's adopted his grandpa as his imaginary friend of sorts. He's talking about his grandpa constantly. He makes up these stories about him all day long. "My grandpa has a dog" "My grandpa bought me that toy car." "My grandpa says ha-HA!" "My grandpa likes to swim, too!" "My grandpa flew over and spun in circles and flew away. He likes to fly." "My grandpa has a cat at his house." Etc, etc, etc. I think it's just the most adorable thing ever. And since he didn't get to know his grandpas here on Earth, it's his way of making memories with them. And who knows! Sometimes the things he says are very much like my dad or Dave's dad, so they might really be flying acrobatics next to our car on the way to the zoo.
We had to try out this recipe we saw floating around the interwebs for 2 ingredient ice cream. We decided to make ours mint chip, so it was more like 3 ingredient ice cream. :) And no-churn. It's just whipped cream and evaporated milk. Freeze it overnight and you have legit ice cream. It doesn't taste like traditional ice cream, but the boys LOVED it. Next time I want to split the batch and let them customize their flavors. It can't beat REAL homemade ice cream, but it's a fun summer experiment. Next we want to do the plastic bag ice cream. We haven't done that in a little while.
Yep, it disappeared. :)
A friend of ours in the ward who has been super kind to us just found out that two of her kids are Celiac. Gideon and I made her our favorite flourless chocolate cookies just to be nice. ;)
