3 Hour Firework Battle in our Backyard
So these pictures/videos are junk, but whatever. :) Our backyard literally exploded for 3 hours on the 4th of July! It was INSANE! And so so so so awesome!! I was actually going a little bit nutty trying to get it on video and camera, but none of them come close to showing what it was really like. Everyone's coming to our house next year!! Best show EVER. :) The neighborhoods battle it out to see who can shoot off the most and best fireworks for the longest amount of time. That's what our neighbor down the street said. Oh my heck, so fun. The air was full of smoke that smelled like Sparklers. It sounded like a war zone. Everywhere you looked there were fireworks. We had the best view.
The fireworks started to stop around midnight, but we could hear some at 2am when we got up with Owen. Crazies. We have 9am church people, keep it down!
Gideon and Owen ran down the hill to their friend's house. His dad was doing fireworks and the boys swiped one. ha! Pyro cleptos. Excellent.
We started to hear the crackles of fireworks at around 8:30. It doesn't get dark until after 9pm and that's when the rest joined in.
Luke was there in body, but lost in a book. ;)
confession: i don't actually know what's on all of these videos... i'm just slapping them on the blog as fast as i can while I'm making breakfast for the boys... (egg toasts and green smoothies if you want to know.) Dave took a most excellent video on his phone and it was PERFECT! But alas, he erased it after emailing it to me, but it didn't work, so that's devastating to my brain. You're stuck with these lovely ones.
Take a dramamine before watching my videos... they're pretty bad. My phone camera wouldn't focus so i kept tapping the screen and that made it all wonky and jumbled and AAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!! I JUST WANTED A VIDEO OF THE AWESOMENESS BEFORE MY EEEEEEEEEEEEEEYES!!!!
Gideon put himself to bed at about 9:30ish. He just wandered back into his room and zonked out amid all the booms and bangs and cracks and whizzes. :)
At about 11pm we went to the front yard and the boys played with their friend and we talked to our neighbors a little bit. Lots of fun. We love this neighborhood. :)
